1.  What is SimRaceCar.com, and what do we do?

SimRaceCar.com is a storage site for simulation race car paintjobs using NASCAR Racing 2003, NASCAR Racing 2002 or NASCAR Racing 4 by Papyrus.  Users come to the site to upload their own car paintjob / skin to be used online in multiplayer races.

You do not have to race online to upload your car, but most of our visitors do race on line.

2.  With the NASCAR Racing 2003/2002 database, do my user id and car filename have to be the same?

No.  You no longer have to name your user id after your car file name.  This was the case with our NASCAR Racing 4 database.  The 2002 database is far more advanced with many new features.  It has the ability to sort user id's and assign those user id's to different car filenames.

3.  Do I have to register a user id and log in to download cars?

No.  You do not have to register to download.  You can now enter the database without registering.  To upload a car, you must then register a user id to make sure your .cup.car file is available.

4.  I know I have my correct car filename selected when I go on-line to race.  Why can't my opponents on-line see me in my paintjob?

First of all the obvious reasons.  The transfer of data is to large therefore, your paintjob is not automatically transferred when you race online.  Any other racer on line must have your paintjob on their computer in order to see you in it.  This is the main reason we made SimRaceCar.com.  Racers needed a simple, secure, and convenient way to store their paintjobs, so we gave it to them.

Now for a more technical answer.  I know my opponent has my car.  He told me he/she has it, but they still can not see me in it.  There could be a few reasons why this is the case.  One, wait up to one full minute.  Sometimes it takes a full minute to see another's paintjob.   You may see them in a default car for that minute until it switches to their paintjob.

Or, there may already be a user in the race that has the same car number as you.  If you drive a car with the number 28 on it, and you join a race that has a number 28 in the  race, your car may not appear to other users.  This is something that Papyrus, the creators of the simulation have done to make it easier to chat to fellow racers, and to avoid confusion with chat.

Unfortunately this causes problems with paintjobs and only allows the first user in the race to have his/her paintjob visible to other drivers if they have the same number as someone that is already in the race.

The only other thing that will work is to change your driver number in the driver number of your car file.  Make it a 3 digit number even though you may drive the 28.  Make it 828 and then it is possible that you can now join a race and in the F2 screen it will say 828 but on the paintjob on your car it will of course just say "28".  Until something else is released or changed, that is the only way we know of that it will work.  If you belong to a league, or club etc, you can avoid these problems by simply assigning numbers to drivers before the season starts.

If you still can not see another in their paintjob be sure that they have selected their proper car in the multiplayer selection of player info within NASCAR 2003/2002.  If you are picking a car that is different from what another driver has on their computer, they will not see you in it.  Ex.  I uploaded 28_m_schiller.cup.car to the SimRaceCar.com database.  We'll, when I go online to race, I must be sure to select the 28_m_schiller car from the drop down list at the player info screen.  You must also be sure that multi player is selected as the source.  Now, whoever has the 28_m_schiller.cup.car file on their computer, will see me in that exact paintjob.

5.  I sent SimRaceCar.com an email, why haven't you responded to it?

We try to respond to all email.  Just not always right away.  It is possible that there is a high traffic period of email and we are backed up on responses.  This is one of the reasons we have updated our support pages and information sections to be more thorough and useful.  If you do not hear back from us after a reasonable amount of time please resend your email.  Thank you for your patience.  We receive hundreds of email a day and sometimes mail does get lost or bounced which is beyond our control.

6.  May I link to SimRaceCar.com?

Yes, by all means please do so.  We appreciate any links you may have to SimRaceCar.com.  Any links that you would like on our site we usually place at RacersOnLine.com because that is our information source for online racing.  You can use link logos that are on the logos page.  Thanks.  Be sure to head over to ROL and send an email in so we can return the favor.

7.  Can SimRaceCar.com sponsor your race team?

We would love to be able to sponsor you and your race team.  Unfortunately we do not have the funding available to take on such requests.  The costs of the operation of SimRaceCar.com keep us fighting every month just to keep the site running.  We get many requests and wish the best for our racers.  The drivers that we have had the opportunity to back as a sponsor, we have done so to help promote everyone, and our site,  in the hunt to find permanent sponsorship.   These drivers have been kind enough to carry the logos on their cars in an effort to help SimRaceCar.com find a sponsor of its own.

8.  May I have more then one car in the public database?

Yes, you are allowed a total of 3 different paintjobs at SimRaceCar.com at one time.  However, you are allowed to assign those 3 cars to as many leagues that are at SimRaceCar.com.  If you are brave enough to race in 5 leagues, and those 5 leagues all have their sets stored at SimRaceCar.com, by all means you can have your car in each zip set.

9.  How do I get all of the cars in one download?

Easy, all you need to do is go to the "download database" link in the 2002 database.  Select public to download all public cars.  Select SimRaceCar to download all public and all league cars.

If you are looking for the zips of all NASCAR Racing 4 cars, these are available at http://www.racersonline.com then select SRC Paintjobs.

10.  How may the league (s) I belong to store there paintjobs at SimRaceCar.com?

Have your league administrator visit our support section and read the Request New League Setup link.  This will explain what they need to do to set up a zip set.  Have them give us an email if they have any questions.
